Training on energy efficiency helped unemployed people to become Energy Advisors
The 150-hours long training is completed and 13 long-term unemployed people from the Koprivnica Krizevci County got an opportunity to work as energy advisors for energy poor households.
“I have been volunteering many times, I have tried many things, but I could never imagine me working as energy advisor”, said Miroslav, one of the fresh graduate advisors.
In three months of training which was organized and led by UNDP Croatia and our experts, participants with different educational backgrounds, explored the theory and practice of energy efficiency measures in households. Now, they are ready for delivering home-energy checks, advising and implementing small energy efficiency measures!
“They would go in pairs. If one screw up or have a bad day, the other would help him. We do everything as a team. That is the golden rule. That is how we teach them”, said Marko Capek, one of the trainers.
Energy advisors were employed by the City of Križevci for 6 months during which they visited over 500 energy poor households in surrounding area. The goal was to decrease level of energy poverty in households by lowering energy and water bills. This was be achieved by advising and implementing small energy efficiency measures. As a result, the households will perceive the drop of monthly energy and water costs. Moreover, some measures will provide the significant improvements of housing conditions.
